Munster Technological University
Innovation Across Munster | Ireland's Newest TU
Overview
Munster Technological University (MTU) was established in 2021 through the merger of Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and Institute of Technology Tralee, creating Ireland's second technological university and the largest higher education institution in the south of Ireland. With campuses across Cork city, Cork county, and Kerry, MTU serves over 18,000 students and plays a vital role in the economic and cultural life of the Munster region.
MTU is strategically located in Ireland's pharmaceutical, biomedical, and technology corridor. Cork is home to the European headquarters of Apple, Dell, and Pfizer, while the wider region hosts major operations for Johnson & Johnson, DePuy Synthes, and Boston Scientific. This industry ecosystem provides MTU students with exceptional placement opportunities, collaborative research projects, and strong graduate employment pathways.
With 2,500+ international students from 80+ countries, MTU offers a welcoming, supportive community in two of Ireland's most attractive locations. The university is renowned for its strengths in computing, engineering, pharmaceutical science, music and creative arts, and business, all delivered through an applied, hands-on approach that ensures graduates are immediately ready for the workplace.
